ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Florida– During a home invasion in Escambia County, a man was hit with a pistol and a dog was wounded by a gunshot.
This incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the 100-block of Majors Road.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office reported that five men of African descent, armed with guns, forcibly entered a small structure where an elderly man resided.

They demanded money from him, and upon learning he had none, they struck him in the head and hand with the pistol.
As per deputies, the suspects made an unsuccessful attempt to break into a mobile home located on the property.
In their endeavor, they fired shots into the mobile home, injuring a dog that was inside at the time.
The sheriff’s office later shared surveillance footage on Monday afternoon, which depicted the suspects entering the home while carrying firearms.
According to the sheriff’s office, The man was transported to the hospital for medical care whose injuries were not life-threatening.
Similarly, the dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
Upon examination of the scene, deputies discovered shell casings.
Despite conducting a K9 search in the vicinity, law enforcement authorities were unable to locate any suspects.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information has been disclosed at this time.
