OAKLAND, Michigan– A 19-year-old man from Commerce Township, identified as Gavin Kassab, is now facing additional charges in addition to the hit-and-run crash that resulted in the tragic death of a 13-year-old girl in Walled Lake.
Kassab is now accused of creating and distributing child pornography. The charges against him are based on allegations that when he was 18 years old, Kassab sent harassing messages to a 16-year-old girl and shared explicit videos of her and her parents.

It is also alleged that he livestreamed explicit videos of the 16-year-old on his Instagram account. These new charges have been filed by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. The case is currently ongoing, and Kassab will be facing legal proceedings for these serious accusations.
Kassab is now facing multiple charges in relation to the creation and distribution of child pornography.
Specifically, he is charged with two counts of creating child pornography, three counts of distributing child pornography, and five counts of using computers to commit a crime.
If found guilty, he could potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years in prison. The severity of the charges reflects the seriousness of the alleged offenses, and legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the case.
“Taking and distributing photos or videos of underage girls and kids is exploitation, and my office will vigorously prosecute those responsible,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement. “My office takes these charges extremely seriously and will fight for justice for the victim and her family.”
Last week, Kassab faced charges related to a fatal crash that occurred in March, resulting in the death of 13-year-old Piper Carrothers and causing serious injuries to her sister and mother.
Although Kassab was not the driver involved in the crash, he is still being charged with manslaughter and reckless driving causing death. The charges indicate that Kassab’s actions contributed to the tragic outcome of the incident.
The legal process will determine the outcome and any potential consequences he may face if found guilty.
The driver involved in the crash, who was 15 years old at the time, has been charged as a juvenile. However, McDonald, the prosecutor, has expressed her intention to seek treating him as an adult.
The driver is facing charges of manslaughter, reckless driving causing death, first-degree fleeing from a police officer, two counts of second-degree fleeing from a police officer, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the prosecutor’s office, Kassab and the 15-year-old were being pursued by the police when they allegedly ran a red light at a speed of 98 mph and collided with two other vehicles.
Following the crash, both individuals exited their vehicle and fled the scene. It is alleged that Kassab recorded the chase on his phone, holding it outside the passenger window, and encouraged the driver to continue fleeing.
These details form part of the investigation conducted by law enforcement agencies.
Kassab is currently in custody at the Oakland County Jail, and his bond has been set at $1.5 million.
