ORANGE COUNTY, Florida– Deputy Steven Jones successfully located an 81-year-old man named Daniel, who had been reported missing. The search led to the discovery of Daniel in a retention pond situated in west Orange County.

There were worries about his well-being as he had left his home without his necessary medication. Thanks to Deputy Jones’ efforts, the missing man was rescued.

Deputy Steven Jones gets a Medal of Merit today for his 6/30/22 rescue of a missing 81-year-old with cognitive disorders. Deputy Jones found the missing man nearly fully submerged in a pond with an alligator swimming nearby.
Jones comforted the man & pulled him from the water.
