SAVAGE, Minnesota– A shooting incident occurred at Riverbend Park, prompting a response from law enforcement around 8 p.m.
During the incident, one individual sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Shortly thereafter, another shooting victim arrived at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville with a gunshot wound.

According to witnesses, two suspects fled the scene on foot, leading officers to establish a perimeter in the vicinity. To aid in the search, a canine unit and the State Patrol helicopter were deployed.
However, despite the efforts, no suspects were found, and law enforcement units concluded their search at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The Savage Police Department has verified that two male juveniles were shot and are currently in critical but stable condition at the hospital.
Text of media release from Savage Police Department: “The Savage Police Department is investigating a shooting incident in the 1400 block of Joppa Ave. South. On May 21, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Savage Police Department officers responded to a complaint regarding shots fired. Upon arrival, officers were stopped by a vehicle leaving the area who reported that their friend had been shot in the ankle.”
“Detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to the scene and conducted a comprehensive investigation, gathering evidence, documenting the scene, and interviewing witnesses. During the preliminary phases of the investigation, at least two juvenile males were shot and were transported to the hospitals by ambulance and a private vehicle. Both juveniles are in critical but stable condition.”
“The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.”“

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
