
PHOENIX— Police reported that on May 20, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 34-year-old man named Leif Chapin while he was driving a Yamaha scooter near 36th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix.

The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Eyewitnesses immediately contacted emergency services after witnessing the collision and the driver fleeing the scene.
Police said, “Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary information suggests that Chapin was riding his scooter southbound on 36th Street when a vehicle traveling northbound turned left in from of him resulting in the collision”.
