Actor Dolph Lundgren revealed his ongoing battle with cancer.
Lundgren said that he was initially misdiagnosed in 2015 and was told that he had kidney stones. It was only when he went for a second opinion that the tumor was discovered. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but doctors later found a second tumor in the same kidney. Lundgren said he was fortunate that the cancer had not spread to other parts of his body.
Lundgren is now an advocate for regular checkups and second opinions, saying that early detection and treatment are key to overcoming cancer. He also said that he is feeling healthy and optimistic about the future.
Lundgren is best known for his roles in the “Rocky” and “Expendables” franchises, as well as his role as Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV”.
Then, doctors said they found another tumor. This time in his liver, and that it had grown so large that it was inoperable. It is at this point that Lundgren decided to get a second opinion.
That doctor was able to find a mutation that made the cancer treatable by medication, and reportedly helped shrink the tumor by 90 percent.
Aside from being known for his role as Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in “Rocky IV” and recent blockbuster success, “Creed Two”, he also is known for his roles in 1987’s “Masters of the Universe” and 1992’s “Universal Soldier.”
