FLORIDA–Authorities are investigating after a newborn baby’s body was discovered in a dumpster behind a business in Lakeland on Thursday morning.
According to the Lakeland Police Chief, a man was rummaging through the dumpster when he found a bag containing the body of a male baby, still attached to the placenta and umbilical cord, which may have been dead for several hours.

Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor stated that the baby was male, and the placenta and umbilical cord were also found in the bag.
The child was presumed to have been dead for several hours before the discovery was made. The body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for further examination, and charges may be filed based on the results.
Detectives are currently conducting an investigation in the area to gather any information that could lead to a suspect.
