COLUMBUS, OHIO–A male suspect has been accused of murder almost 12 months after an 18-year-old female was shot and killed at a celebration in southeast Columbus.
Tyshawn Jenkins, 19, has been charged by a Franklin County panel of judges with two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault, and one count of possessing a weapon illegally.
These charges relate to the death of Ayanta Jarmon, who was shot on July 29, 2022.

Law enforcement was notified of the shooting incident that took place in the 2700 block of Fairwood Avenue. According to the investigators, somebody had shot at a group of people who had congregated at the party.
Ayanta Jarmon was discovered unresponsive and with a gunshot wound by the police. She was taken to Grant Medical Center for treatment, but unfortunately, she passed away later.
Another victim, a 16-year-old boy, was also shot and was hospitalized for treatment.
Jenkins was apprehended in September and faced robbery and felonious assault charges in connection with the fatal shooting. On Thursday, the Columbus police reported that the defendant was accused of the shooting this week. Jenkins is scheduled to appear in the Franklin County Court of Commons Pleas on Friday.
