The individual in question, Peter Ben Embarek, who led the WHO team alongside Chinese scientists, was dismissed by the health agency last year due to allegations of sexual misconduct. In response to various cases and incidents reported in the media, the WHO has recently intensified its efforts to combat sexual abuse, exploitation, and harassment.
