According to prosecutors, three teenagers named Nicholas “Mitch” Karol-Chik, Joseph Koenig, and Zachary Kwak, all 18 years old, have been charged with murder and other crimes in connection with the death of a 20-year-old woman who was killed while they were throwing large rocks at passing cars.
First Judicial District Attorney Alexis King stated that the three defendants are facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, second-degree assault, and attempted second-degree assault. The incident also involved alleged attacks on six other vehicles in the suburban Denver area, resulting in minor injuries to two additional drivers. Attorneys representing Karol-Chik and Koenig, namely Holly Gummerson and Tom Ward respectively, declined to comment. There was no immediate response from Kwak’s lawyer, Emily Boehne, as a message left for her was unanswered. During a brief court hearing, all three lawyers declined to have the charges read.
